VACANCY: DIRECTOR OF FINANCE 

The Tanzania Institute of Bankers is a professional body in banking established in 1993. Main objective of the Institute is to certify professionally qualified bankers in Tanzania.

Management of the Institute. is vested in the Governing Council constituted by the Bank of Tanzania and sponsoring Banks and Financial Institutions in the country. The Institute therefore has the mandate in promoting and developing a banking qualification of international repute for professional career bankers who will be expected to run banks and other financial institutions in a reformed and competitive financial system. The Institute’s banking profession and examination system is aligned to that of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London, United Kingdom (UK), East African Institutes of Bankers and Alliance of African Institutes of Bankers.

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

1. Qualifications and Experience 
(i) Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
(ii) A holder of CPA or other equivalent qualification issued by a recognized accountancy body.
(iii) Seven years’ experience in related field.
(iv) Strong knowledge of project based accounting software.
(v) Impeccable mathematics and analytical skills.
(vi) Able to meet tight and short deadlines.
(vii) Excellent computer skills.

Age – Not exceeding fifty years.

3. Summary of Duties
The Director of Finance is a senior member of the Institute’s Management Team and shall report to the Executive Director. The successful candidate is expected to perform the following duties:
(i) The Director of Finance shall be the Financial Controller of TIOB and shall form a close working relationship with the Executive Director, other senior Executives and non-Executives.
(ii) Shall provide leadership to the Institute’s Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimise the Institute’s financial performance and strategic position.
(iii) Shall take overall control of the Institute’s accounting function to ensure efficient and economical administration of the Accounts department while initiating appropriate financial policies, monitoring system and controls.
(iv) Shall contribute to the development of Institute’s strategy across all areas of operations, assumptions and decision making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.

(v) Shall ensure that Institute’s financial systems are properly and efficiently functioning and support current activities and future growth.
(vi) Shall lead and develop finance team and work with all Institute’s teams to grow business, formulating strategies and plans.
(vii) Shall ensure Institute’s budgeting processes are timely carried out, reviewed and ultimately present to the governing authority for approval.
(viii) Shall maintain adequate internal controls over the finances of TIOB at all levels of operation
(ix) Shall be responsible as custodian and controller of Institute’s funds, assets and physical monetary resources and advise on timely investment of funds.
(x) Shall facilitate expenditure controls to ensure they are maintained within the approved budget.
(xi) Shall present periodical and annual financial statements in compliance with the applicable financial reporting standards and provisions of any agreements with partners.
(xii) Shall ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met as appropriate.
(xiii) Shall manage company policies regarding loans, advances, taxation acquisitions and disposals as appropriate.
(xiv) Shall establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including customers and advisors.

4. Remuneration 
This post carries a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the status of the Institute and scheme of service.
