Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit UG Safety Officer to join our team. The successful candidate for this position is expected to align to the Barrick DNA and drive a change within his team and the business and on a practical note will ensure activities in the mining department are effectively planned and undertaken in a safe and cost effective manner to achieve targets in accordance to BGML Mining Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead by example
• Develop the knowledge, skills and abilities of employees and associated personnel in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
• Provide support and Assistant to the site the resolution of safety and env environment issues and champion
• Consistent promotion of organization policies, procedures, and objectives and comply with organization safety reporting standards
• Ensure compliance leading indicators and execution of required leadership interaction with departments
• Continuously improve safety and training culture on the site
• Ensure site associated personnel receive training and assessments that meets the competency requirements of Bulyanhulu systems
• Deliver compliance to training plan / schedules in collaboration with line management
• Co-ordinate and Deliver mobile Equipment, Drilling and Blasting and any other skills training session in line with the Bulyanhulu underground training
• Compliance to the Training and Development related standards operating Procedures. Complete on the job follow u/field assessment as per the safety, Environment, Quality and Training Management Plan
• Establish, develop and coach effective work teams to achieve objectives and targets.
• Provide an effective communication channel with contractors and subcontractors
• Carrying out regular (scheduled and ad hoc) inspection and audit for surface and underground
• Train and coach, the BGML employees  team on safety issues
• Attend internal and external meetings and trainings
• Assist management in identification and control of potential major risks exposures using information obtained from daily inspection and visits
• Advise Management and supervisors under health and safety on the development and implementation of the various aspects of safety programs systems and other matters pertaining to the health and safety of employees
• Conduct appropriate on the job training, coaching and monitoring for workforce
• Investigating, monitoring and follow up on recommendations from investigation and ensure actions are completed and implemented.

• Ensuring compliance with all relevant Tanzania Regulations in your area of responsibility.

• Any other tasks and responsibilities as directed by your Supervisor/Manager.

• Certificate IV or similar qualification in workplace Training & Assessment
• Tanzania OSHA – NOSCH Training 1 and 2 Certification
• Minimum 3 years working experience in the same or similar role
• Valid Driving License

• Good communication (oral and written) skills

• Sound knowledge of relevant Standard Operating Procedure
• Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety

• Computer literate skills
• Self-starting and able to work under minimum supervision
• Analysis of data, trends and providing recommendations
• Excellent knowledge of the OHS regulations
• Strong in hazard identification and risk management
• Understanding of safety system and incident root cause analysis
• Qualified to operate all equipment for which training is conducted

• 3 Years’ Experience in an underground safety & Training Practitioner role
