Jumia Tanzania received a special visit this week from the CEO and Founder of Jumia Market, MassimilianoSpalazzi. The aim of the visit was to oversee the re-branding of Jumia and explore the different opportunities available for E-commerce in the city. He had this to say to the Jumia sellers in Tanzania “Entrepreneurs are always quick to grab new opportunities. They are visionaries who see opportunities from a mile away and plan how to turn it into money. The future of ecommerce is very bright and you are right to have chosen the path”

With the sprouting of e- commerce billionaires such as Jeff Bezos of Amazon and Pierre Omidyar of eBay, people are slowly beginning to be inspired by the success of online businesses. . “With Millions of Tanzanians owning smart phones today, e-commerce is bound to have a brighter future” Says MassimilanoSpalazzi. “Tanzanians should not be afraid to invest in online businesses.”
When you think of the economic value of E commerce, it is way far reaching than the traditional physical stores. Geographical barriers have been burnt completely, making it easy for sellers and buyers to trade no matter the distance. When buyers and sellers increase connectivity, the demand patterns increase, which means more businesses for you.
E commerce is cost effective. It has reduced costs for global and domestic sourcing. The target market can now be reached without using too many resources making it lead in the global supply chain.
E commerce encourages competition therefore business always has to stay on top of their game in order to maintain their consumers. This works to their advantage because the more the competition, the better the quality of products and the more variety there is.When you narrow down the advantages of physical stores, throw away the fear and put on the hard work, ecommerce will shape your financial future Massively.
‘Following the huge re-branding move the next focus for Jumia is now growth’ says Country Manager of Jumia Tanzania LauritzElmshauser.
