Rotary Club Of Dar es Salaam Launches Ambitious Global Grant Project

Dar es Salaam – the Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam proudly announces the commencement of the groundbreaking global grant initiative by providing 1000 desks, training 80 teachers and planting 2000 trees within the local community.

Desks: Numerous studies have shown that a conducive learning environment is important for a child’s academic progress. The donation is part of the efforts to support the need to end the shortage of desk in public schools. Five primary schools will benefit from 1000 desks :  Kunduchi, Kisauke, Salasala, Twiga and Mtajuja Primary Schools.

Training: Understanding the pivotal role of educators in shaping the future, the club is committed to facilitating training program for 80 teachers with DIT and engaging them with innovative teaching.

Trees: In alignment with Rotary International commitment to environment, the club has committed to plant 2000 trees contributing to the local ecosystem and fostering a greener and sustainable community.

President Nikki Aggarwal of Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam mentioned that the global grant ties with our on-going signature project and RC Dar has given a total of 3572 desks after this global grant valuing at 453m.

PDG Sharmila Bhatt mentioned that this would not have been possible without the global partner Rotary Club of Vancouver who partnered with us.

Senior Member Hamza Kassongo mentioned that Rotary comes together in times of need and adversity and this project will have a huge impact on the literacy rate in the district.

Hon Saad Matubule mentioned said that RC DAR has been committed on the gift of education and has created an ever lasting impact in our aim to reduce the shortage of desks in primary schools.
